The best way to understand what an e-portfolio is is bascially an electronic version of a logbook (sorry yes I used the L word). The advantages of an e-portfolio is that you can offer invited participants to comment on your work making the documentation more interactive and open. It can be a one-stop shop that contains your blog, films, your own network and can contain both public and private pages. There are also some really interesting templates and formats to make your e-portfolio unique to you.
E-portfolios are also a great way to showcase your CV as you can show potential employers or universities photographs and films of your work simply by sending a link to your e-portfolio.
You can either purchase an e-portfolio (I have used Pebblepad which was very easy to use, you can find out a bit more about Pebblepad here) . Or there are free e-porfoilos available, my colleagues are currently using Mahara details of which can be found here.
Happy exploring!
